About Pete Crotty and 111 Music Therapy
|
111 Music Therapy is independently owned by Pete Crotty, LCAT, and has served Ulster, Orange, Dutchess, Westchester County for over 20yrs
I have provided music therapy for a wide variety of populations, including children with behavior disorders, adults with autism, adults with psychiatric disorders, and the geriatric population. Throughout these experiences, I have prioritized improving the individual’s quality of life and supporting self-expression. In all of my music therapy sessions, I emphasize creating a safe and fun environment. I connect easily with my clients and encourage them to feel relaxed, participate and express themselves. I mainly play guitar and sing so I can constantly give direct eye contact with my clients. I have a large repertoire of music that is culturally appropriate for all populations that they can relate to. The familiarity helps them feel easy to participate by singing or playing to the rhythm with instruments I provide. I also engage them in various games, movement, playing guitar and keyboard and dancing. I use a variety of accessible musical instruments (mainly percussion and voice) to strengthen my clients’ fine and gross motor movements and enhance their self-expression. I improvise often with music as I react to what my clients are communicating, in an effort to bring out their creativity. During COVID I've been able to quickly adapt to the times by creating music sessions on Zoom. I use drum loops, fun sounds, stimulating backgrounds to enhance an amazing virtual experience. It's like watching an interactive TV show. I have an extensive repertoire for children, and for most populations. I have always been a team player. I’m very personable and I know my enthusiasm and positive energy have supported the efforts of both colleagues and clients with whom I’ve interacted. I currently facilitate programs for residents with autism and developmental disabilities at 32 houses and 5 dayhabs for Hudson Valley DDSO (10yrs), 5 houses for Camp Venture (7 years) , 4 houses and 1 day program for Greystone (20yrs via zoom 3 yrs) , St Dominics Dayhab (Zoom since May 2020), and IAHD (Zoom since 2020) If you would like to talk to any of the managers at these facilities I could arrange that. I've worked for the state at Bronx Children's Psychiatric hospital for 9 years with children from 5-17 years old with behavior disorders, Montrose Veterans home with geriatrics for 6 years, and with adult psych for 5 years I am sure I would be an asset to your program, your child, or whomever because of my love of people and music, my expertise as a music therapist, and my desire to help others reach their full potential. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you. |
